The Depot

About Us

Mission Statement

The Depot exists to meet the needs of the distressed in our community by collecting donations and delivering them directly to the people who need them for FREE.

Values

We believe in the worth of each person. We respond to the physical and emotional needs of those we serve, demonstrating love to hurting people. We measure success by the faith and hope that is strengthened in the lives of people in our community through connections made between those who can give with those in need. We believe in the joy of giving freely and without judgment. We partner with individuals, families, communities, churches, corporations and governments in working toward the well being of all.

Our Story

In 2006, a group of volunteers from Mountain View Church started throwing monthly birthday parties for the children of a local homeless shelter. The volunteers quickly formed friendships with the residents at the shelter and started filling "special needs" packages, such as clothes, toys, etc. When the residents completed their programs and were able to move out, the volunteers collected donations to furnish their new homes. By word of mouth the local ministry, which was run out of a garage, expanded into the church's storage unit and is currently occupying the largest storage unit at a local storage facility. People were now able to order furniture, appliances, toys, clothes, and other household items. In 2007, the volunteers filled 355 orders which helped people transitioning from homeless shelters, mental wellness centers, and people that simply need assistance. On August 16, 2007 The Depot was formed as its own corporation so we could apply for grants, have fundraisers, and serve a larger part of our community. In 2008, due to the overwhelming need in our community, The Depot plans to expand its operations once again. We have outgrown both of our storage facilities, and are currently looking for a permanent building. We ask that you continue to donate your household items, sign-up to volunteer, and pray for our ministry as we go through our own transition.
